Post Jam Update
The Navigator - gets AI
Time constraints saw some important portions of this game left out of the jam version. This update more accurately reflects the goal we were shooting for from the offset.
Whats new? (photos at bottom)
1) The AI navigator tips you off to the next turn (left, right, sharp right, hard left, etc).
2) The AI navigator recommends a speed for the upcoming corner (fast, medium, slow).
3) No more cheating! Added checkpoints throughout the map so players can no longer spoof their time by circling at the finish line. Glad you took the time to find this one for me! :D
4) Improved downforce effects so spinout happens a little less frequently.
5) Improved car acceleration following a spinout so the player can get back in the action quicker.
6) Added post race timer (best lap / total time) display and feed back that varies from the AI based on your time.
7) Fixed audio manager that was making all sounds except the car engine inaudible.
All in all this game is much better than it was when the jam deadline approached and I hope you'll give it another try. If you see other areas for improvement let me know!! I have considered the following:
1) Adding cars to race against.
2) Adding a shadow car of your best run (same session) to race against.
3) More maps
4) Indication on map where checkpoints are
